Re: Paleo Diet discussion
As a newcomer to this forum i would be exposed to theories about gluten, insulin, zinc, ccsvi, low fat, high-fat, omega-9/omega-6 and bee venom from well-intentioned people who all believe they have found the cure for MS. But it is to a large extend nothing but theories. Most of us however, would ag...

Ever tried looking at the world map of wheat consumption?

Does it correlate well with MS prevalence?
At a glance, not really.

Re: Paleo Diet discussion
Everyone (including myself) with celiac or gluten sensitivity should be concerned about gluten. Thats clear to me. This is also my takeaway from reading the article from huffingtonpost. I missed out on the MS connection thou. I am aware that one study has found a higher incidence of celiac among peo...

Re: Natural supplement combination appears to help MS
In reality only omega-6 has shown some promise in the treatment of MS. http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/23235605 "Six RCTs that investigated PUFAs emerged from the search strategy, accounting for 794 randomised patients.PUFAs did not have a significant effect on disease progression at 24 mont...

Re: Natural supplement combination appears to help MS
None of the studies had any emphasis on lowering omega-6 intake.
The one showing a positive result even included omega-6 as part of the treament.
There is no evidence that balacing omega-3 and omega-6 intake has any effect on MS as you stongly imply.

Re: Natural supplement combination appears to help MS
The omega3, omega6, vit-a, alpha-tocopherol group without gamma-tocopherol did not achieve significant results. Only the group with added gamma-tocopherol (but not gamma-tocopherol alone) had any benefits from the study. I don think its related to the polyunsaturated fats but rather the interaction ...

Re: Low vitamin D levels linked to more severe MS symptoms
Your speculation about the cause and treatment of MS is all very fine. However, I do strongly recommend everyone else to keep a close eye on their vit-d levels. The evidence that vit-d can prevent and modulate the disease course in MS is just too strong to be ignored (as you basicly suggest) Here ar...

And the second question would be why this relationship between vitd levels and the effect of interferon has not been reported before now. I find it difficult to belive that vitd samples has not been taken during the 15 years of ongoing interferon trials.

“We would also want to stress that we are not advocating sun bed use since this is not the same type of radiation produced by sun beds which already have well-documented health risks. So what kind of UV light did they actually use? Was it simply UV-b. Most sunbeds actually produce UV-b as well as U...
