You can also appeal the insurance company non-coverage. I have gotten uncovered drugs paid for on appeal.

Re: So, what is the most affordable treatment for MS?
The MS drugs reduce relapses but aren't proven to reduce disease progression. The swank diet showed the ability to prevent progression during a 34 year study. Most of those that stayed on the diet were still walking after 34 years. Those that didn't were bedridden or dead. Seafood and vegetables are...

Re: Exercise for those of us with Fatigue?
I got a rowing machine 3 weeks ago and it has been by far the best thing I have ever done for my MS. Diagnosed in 2003 I was stable on copaxone until 2011. I started noticing deterioration in my balance and began a number of things to slow the progression: Went on swank diet Supplements Nucca chirop...

Re: Nucca and when it goes bad
You may consider reporting your doc to NUCCA. Dr lee yardley, president of NUCCA, says too many adjustments is just as bad as too few. His goal is to get adjustment to hold ( he has seen up to 10 years ). It is still expensive, which sucks, but it sounds like your practitioner may not be following b...

Re: Tecfidera
I also stopped Copaxone for Tecfidera. The reason that I switched was that, after 10 years on Copaxone, I started to see deterioration in my condition. Unfortunately, the deterioration has continued on Tecfidera. It seems like it may be less effective, although there is no telling what deterioration...

So far so good. Function improved over this time last year. Hard to say what % of that is the BG-12 because I've also gotten stricter on Swank diet and taking supplements.

Re: Tecfidera
I am into my 2nd month. On the whole, not bad. The jury is still out but am encouraged that I haven't encountered serious side effects. I am still trying to improve leg strength / stamina / balance to the point that I can keep up with my 19 year old - but I have being 40 to contend with even if MS i...

Re: Wahls diet discussion
I am on the Swank diet. While Wahl's has plausible theories and anecdotal data (her own turnaround), Swank has 34 years of clinical research painstakingly documented on scores of patients. It is important to realize that there is not a discreet line that is crossed when RRMS becomes SPMS. Because, t...

Re: Best Bet Diet
I don't eat many eggs. When I do, they're hard boiled with yolk removed. Swank diet does allow 3 eggs (including yolk) per week, however I generally avoid the yolks. I don't like counting so I stay way under 15 g sat fat per day to avoid the risk of carelessness taking me over 15.

Re: Tecfidera
I have been on about 3 weeks. SFSG - I try to have a carb, a protein, and fat ( fish oil) with each dose. This was based on Ladymacs suggestion (Tecfidera side effect thread) but modified for Swank diet. I have had niacin flush. I have stopped taking niacin for now, may resume later. I have had &quo...

Re: Best Bet Diet
Eggs have 5 grams of sat fat (if you eat the yolk). That's 1/3 of the daily allowance in one egg. I boil them and toss the yolks when I eat eggs.

Re: Which is the best diet?
I chose Swank's diet because it has the most evidence to back it up. He studied a lot of patients for 34 years. His diet seems to be my best hope for staying on my feet. 10 years down, hopefully many more to go.

Thank you all for the advice. I did take the plunge. So far, so good. About 10 days in to it.

Re: Jelinek diet discussion
My approach is to do both. Swank diet and Tecfidera (previously copaxone). Need discipline now to do stretches and balance exercises.
