Jimmy, I'm sending the dog sled by to pick you up.

Sharon, do you think DHEA has any potential?

Myelin repair part 2: this time be nice

I came back to post this to find Bromley's thread is locked. But as an act of faith in the better aspects of human nature, I just wanted to provide a link to the original research article on which the BBC story in Ian's post was based. I hope the link works... http://www.nature.com/neuro/journal/vao...

GeNeuro trial

GeNeuro is a company that has been mentioned a couple of times at TIMS. They have been working on a monoclonal antibody against MSRV/HERV-W, the MS-associated endogenous retrovirus. According to the pdf document below, they are now gearing up for a clinical trial starting early next year. Of course ...

New theory of MS

The abstract below describes another new way of classifying MS. I like it because it blasts EAE right off the top. On the other hand their condemnation of immunosuppression seems too broad to me since there are some successes on that front (campath etc.) Also, their comments about the placebo effect...

mrsjitters, I'm no doctor, but exercise typically doesn't cause relapses. If it was an existing symptom made worse by exercising, I'd guess that you're having a heat response (body temperature rise leading to activation of symptoms, but not a relapse). I have no idea whether your headaches / ear pai...

They are definitely moving this one along. I moved ocrelizumab to phase 3 on the pipeline list as they are starting a phase 3 trial for primary progressive MS.

I added a PPMS trial of Ocrelizumab to the phase 3 list, based on this clinicaltrials.gov listing . On the one hand, this is GREAT news! Any time a new substance enters phase 3 it's a major step in the right direction. Just as importantly, it is being tested for PPMS, where the need is greatest. On ...

I moved Amiloride from phase 1 to phase 2 (and it's a primary progressive trial!) based on this: The primary objective of the study is to evaluate the effects of the drug, oral amiloride in primary progressive Multiple Sclerosis (MS) patients during 12 months of treatment. This project aims to evalu...

That's great to hear Wesley. I imagine that you've exposed your theory to a lot of smart people who have had a chance to poke holes in it. So if it's still afloat, that has to be a good sign. Good luck with further development.
