Hi,
I'm interested in trying Minocycline antibiotic as a therapy and have approached by GP and neurologist who both say they don't recommend it as it's still unproven.
Have other people had this problem and if so, how did you manage to get around it?
Thanks,
Julie
How can I get Minocycline in the UK?
Re: How can I get Minocycline in the UK?
These are reccommended by Auto Immune Therapies (Helminthic) for getting off label meds. Pharmacy in Mexico but allegedly Legit. Shouldn't have to go this route but UK Docs are such XXXXX when it comes to this sort of stuff

Alternatively ask you doc to prescribe it for acne

Re: How can I get Minocycline in the UK?
I had wanted Minocycline for MS but been refused. But I knew that Minocycline is commonly prescribed for Acne. I had a rash on my body and made an appointment with a dermatologist. I asked the dermatologist for a prescription for Minocycline, which he gave me to treat the rash, and fortunately the dosage was what I wanted (100 m.g. 2x/day.)
I can't remember how long the prescription was good for, but I remember I then quickly made appointments with three neurologists and explained at each appointment that I was already on Minocycline (I did not mention the rash) and needed someone who could take over my care and continue the prescription. I also brought in some supporting literature to the appointments with me. The first two neurologists said no, but the third said yes.
Some neurologists are known for being more flexible than others. But you also have to be prepared with some strong arguments as to why you don't want one of the standard disease modifying drugs (cost, you've tried them and they don't work, the side-effects will interfere with work or child care, etc.) and be persuasive in explaining that the Minocycline is not likely to hurt you (it has been around for a long time, many people have been on it long terms with few side effects, it is inexpensive, etc.)

Re: How can I get Minocycline in the UK?
I was on doxycycline, virtually the same as minocycline for four years with no problems and much recovery: see my signature. My last relapse was in early 2003, before I started the Vanderbilt/Wheldon protocol. You might care to PM me.

An Itinerary in Light and Shadow Completed Dr Charles Stratton / Dr David Wheldon abx regime for aggressive secondary progressive MS in June 2007, after four years. Still improving with no relapses since starting. Can't run but can paint all day.
Re: How can I get Minocycline in the UK?
I have started to use minocycline as well, 2 x 100 mg/day.
I consulted some doctors who told me the same as I read in the above postings: if it does not work, it won't harm you a lot either..
I have no problems, no side effects..
It definitely improved the gut biota and leakage..
After my venous liberation, the cloud / noise in the head had gone down, in particular behind the ears.
Now the head gets completely quiet after so may years, whow, is my imagination running away with me here?
I also believe that consciousness is getting sharper; I get more into the middle of it all...
A neurologist won't be able to tell anything other than my consciousness is normal, but can I feel it..
The other day I came back from south Belgium with the car and the map of Brussels just presented itself in the middle of head, as in the old days.. is this placebo or real?
