Healing from falls in MS

Post by jam »

I fell down two stairs in July, twising my ankly badly. Couldn't walk on it without aids.

I manage to walk somewhat now. It is still extremely sore.

I just wondered if anyone knows how long this might take. It has been x-rayed - not broken so they say. Is this amount of time normal? Does it take longer in MS?

I have ppms and live some distance from the city. So getting a physio or similar is somewhat difficult especially when I cannot drive and no one wants to come this far.

Any ideas?

hey there, please pardon me if i have asked you about this before but.. have you ever had your zinc levels done? are you taking any zinc/copper supplement? zinc is known to be suboptimal in ms, low levels affect a wide variety of body functions.. and zinc is key for wound healing...

Jam,

Sounds like you badly twisted your ankle...in many cases severe twists take much longer to heal than broken bones.

The fact that you can't get physio to help the recovery process and can't move around properly due to the injury and your MS is going to result in a fairly long healing time. Could take up to 8 weeks or longer.

Try and get as much movement as you can with the ankle without causing any further injury. Try and keep the swelling an inflammation as low as possible.
